Wet Chalk Drawing

Resource materials: Hang pictures of the subject matter you choose or have examples of projects done by a previous class. Example: if you are doing animals, hang pictures of animals. Talk about the zoo.

Materials and equipment: 8 x 10.5" art paper provided by Art to Remember • colorful chalk (may use chalkboard, sidewalk or pastel chalk) • a dish for the water or tempera paint (white).

Step 1: Put a small amount of water (or tempera paint) in the dish on each table.

Step 2: Draw an animal / object filling the paper.

Step 3: Dip the tip of the chalk in the water or paint. The water wets the chalk and allows the child to color dark and evenly. If using paint, the paint helps seal the chalk, so that it does not smear when dry. Have the children color in all areas.

Step 4:
Set finished project in an area to dry.
