Resource
materials: Hang
or display on an easel, pictures of mosaics from Ancient Greek Culture.
Materials
and equipment: 8
x 10.5" art paper provided by Art to Remember • various
colors of construction paper • glue • scissors • pencil • toothpicks.
Step 1: Choosing a class theme, and have student draw large enough on the paper to fill the space.
Step 2: Choose
colors for the mosaic.
Step 3: Cut tiny squares of paper (rulers are usually not needed
and seem to take much longer).
Step 4: On scrap paper, place a small amount of glue for individual student
or table to use.
Step 5: Using the tip of a toothpick - dab in the glue on
the piece of scrap paper. Smear the glue on a small area of the drawing.
Step 6: Using the end of the toothpick with the glue on it,
touch the paper “tile“ square you are going to glue. (The square
will stick to the toothpick long enough to be placed on the paper). Use the
toothpick to move it - keeping fingers clean.
Step 7: Repeat this process until the paper is filled with
paper tiles and the picture is complete.
