Resource materials: Color wheel - examples of projects previously completed.
Materials and equipment: 8 x 10.5" art paper provided by Art to Remember • rulers • markers or paint in warm and cool colors only • paint brushes and paint if painting. Note: Markers work best on this project.
Step 1: The paper may be pre-lined for the student. Use one inch squares for the graph. Easiest way is to mark a sample sheet. Copy and use as many as you need.
Step 2: Draw
a simple shape on the lined paper filling the entire area as much as possible.
Step 3: Decide if the foreground is warm or cool. If you choose
cool for the foreground the background will be warm and vice versa.
Step 4: Choose only two cool colors and only two warm colors. The triangles
are alternated between the two colors. For instance - if using warm colors
of orange and red, use a pattern of orange, red, orange, red, etc, until
the warm colored area is filled entirely. Repeat with the cool colors on
the opposite area.
