Fingerpaint Pointillism

Resource materials: Display paintings / read biography material about famous Impressionists from the past. Discuss how the artist from that era applied their painting (technique) and what painting technique the students will use.

Materials and equipment: 8 x 10.5" art paper provided by Art to Remember• watercolor or tempera paint • containers for water • paper towels for drying fingers between color changes.

Step 1: Draw picture filling most of the paper.

Step 2: Dip into the water bowl, using the tip of index finger.

Step 3: Touch paper with fingertip filling in the color spaces by dabbing - not smearing.

Step 4:
After all spaces are filled with color - including background - allow to dry overnight.
