
Resource materials: local pictures of your community and surrounding area from chamber of commerce, local historical society, school media center or local calendars. Show artworks by Edward Hopper who painted architecture and Thomas Hart Benton who painted panoramic scenes.
Materials and equipment: 8 x 10.5" art paper provided by Art to Remember pencils markers or paint.
Step 1: Brainstorm with students what they would like to show about their hometown or their own home. Is it a big city? Is it a small town? Is it farmland, mountainous or by the sea?
Step 2: Decide
what you want to tell about where you live and draw
lightly in pencil
Step 3: Color your picture using bold contrasting colors with paint or markers.
Step 4: Outline in black marker for emphasis if you like.
